CHANGE HAPPENS. SO DO NEW BEGINNINGS.

Caterpillar to Butterfly:
The Power of Writing Through Change

A 5-week eCourse

Begins Monday, October 16th

Going through a turbulent time of loss or life changing event?

Whether you’re experiencing grief or retirement, an aging crisis or pending divorce, or any other life-changing milestone, you’re in a time of transition. How do you know? Because the transition is affecting the quality of your life, like with obsessive thoughts, worries, feelings of no control, and great upheaval. And all of this is taking a toll on your well-being.

I’ve worked with many women who’ve struggled with life-changing transitions. I’ve seen their pain. And what I offer you is hope and clarity that comes by combining the powers of writing along with  transition knowledge to help you navigate your transition with more insight, confidence, and wisdom.  I’m here to guide you towards seeing yourself as a woman who is beginning to emerge into a new way of being in her world.

How my 5-week Caterpillar to Butterfly eCourse can benefit you

Unlike some programs that might provide you with answers, this self-paced Caterpillar to Butterfly course is designed to allow you to discover your own transition wisdom  by:

  • Introducing you to normal adult three-stage transition process: Letting Go of the Old Way, the In-Between, and Accepting the New Way based on the teachings of transition leader Leia Francisco
  • Personal exploration of your transition in a circle of other women who are doing the same hard work
  • Discovering personal strengths, skills, and self-care strategies to take good care of yourself through your transition
  • Engaging the transformative power of personal writing, also called journaling, in the exploration of your transition through the three stages as captured in Francisco’s Writing Through Transitions
  • Building your transition-muscles for managing past or future transitions or life changes
  • Space and time to reflect on your transition, naming it, and even perhaps gleaning the wisdom it holds for you

I’m ready to discover the Power of Writing Through Change

Caterpillar to Butterfly is for you if:

  • You’re ready to explore a personal transition that is affecting your life and well-being
  • You feel an old way is ending, but the new way hasn’t yet become clear
  • You are wondering, “Who am I?” and “How did I get here?” and “What’s next?” in your life, as it relates to your transition
  • You’re ready to do the hard work of showing up, writing, and to put forth the effort and risk, as one client has said, “of uncovering the truth…of being known, even to yourself”
  • You’re willing to pace yourself through the five weeks at a tempo good for you

This being said, if you’re in the immediate aftermath of a transition–like the very recent loss of a loved one, or any other deeply wounding trauma–you may find that this is not yet the time to write. If you’re feeling this way, please respect this wise inner knowing. You will know when the right time to begin breaking the silence, to begin writing your way through this transition.

There are few programs that can help you find hope and give clarity to your situation. Most books and philosophies uncover their perspective to move you toward growth. This program creates custom parts for you to uncover truth, but you must be willing to put in the effort and risk being known, even to yourself.

She’s also a journaling advocate, published writer, college writing instructor, yoga teacher, mother, wife, and GiGi.

I coupled the Power of Writing Through Change with Ginny’s Mentor Session. The combination created a rich experience with reflective thought that helped me discover key insights into my personal experiences.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this eCourse work?

Each Monday morning of the course, you’ll receive an email from me containing several attachments with the week’s themed content (like, Self-Care, Letting Go of the Old Way, etc.) I will also tell you which document to read first, second, etc. One document will always include journal prompts. Since this is a self-paced course, you set the tempo for your week’s progress through the material and prompts based on your life.

Do I have to do all the journaling prompts?

Absolutely not. There will be a selection of prompts each week. You choose which one(s) to respond to through your writing. Choose 1, 3, or more. Some weeks you may choose more, others less. I highly recommend setting aside and scheduling your time to read and to journal. Minimally, choose one prompt, set a timer for 10 minutes, and write for that length of time. If you have time for another, great. But 10 minutes per prompt is a good goal to begin writing through your transition.

How much time will this take each week?

Great question. This will mostly depend on how much you plan on journaling. Minimally plan on an hour to read through the material, though it may not take you this long. Then, choose the prompts to write about depending on your life that week, and which ones resonate.

Do I have to log into a course somewhere?

No. All content will be delivered each week to the email address you provide upon registering. But you’ll want to make sure you have a reliable way of accessing your email, perhaps downloading, printing the content.

I’ve never journaled before. Can I still take this course?

Yes! During the first week, you’ll learn more about journaling, how much time to spend, etc. Since there really are no rules in journaling, it’s a perfect opportunity for women to practice dropping their perfectionism and to write from the heart. This course is great for novice journalers, or for those who journal regularly.

What supplies do I need?

A journal, access to your email. You may want to print out the attached documents, or just store them electronically. The choice is yours. You also may want to create, instead of writing, in response to some of the prompts, like through collage, or sketching, watercoloring, etc. Art supplies are optional.

Before I decide on which option is best, I’d like to talk further with Ginny, who would love to talk with me.
